A few months ago, my classmates and I went on a trip to the design museum in London with the objective of exploring a range of ideas on a product we can design and innovate. The design museum is a world leading museum that showcases various modern designs in various fields such as the architectural design, graphic, and fashion. By viewing the various designs, we hoped to gain inspiring insights on what new designs to introduce into the market. As we went around viewing the various designs, we had an open mind and as such, we were not selective on what to focus on. We explored all the designs just in case any of them would interest us. One outstanding aspect about this experience is that it brought us together as members of a team and strengthened our bond. We were able to discuss various designs as we tried to understand how the various models operated.

A number of interesting designs and ideas grabbed our attention and it would be important to share them with you here. Most importantly, the idea of the new train tube they are planning to build in London really impressed us. The new train tubes have wider tube to speed up the process of getting people on and off the train. In addition, we liked the fact that the LV light on the train shows the direction in which the train is going. Besides that, the layout of the typical kitchen struck us. We were able to understand that even if most kitchens look alike, a little creativity into the typical layout would benefit the introduction of new and stunning layouts and designs. Also, we were impressed by the idea of the 3D printer. A key feature of the 3D printer is that it produces three dimensional solid objects. Using a 3D printer, it is possible to design a concrete object in a few hours. Therefore, any designer can effectively present a real design to clients or the intended audience. Essentially, we have the idea of designing a comic book that would educate people about assault that has been happening widely across the globe. Therefore, the 3D printer would be of great value in attracting readers more.

The various designs and innovations showcased at the museum were a clear suggestion of what creativity and innovation can do. With the rapid advances in technology, much more innovations that could only be imagined can actually be introduced. Even with today’s development of incredible innovations, there is still much that is yet to be achieved. Therefore, continuous exploration of new ideas only means the discovery of new concepts and designs in various fields. As a student in the field of innovation management and entrepreneurship, I was really inspired by these designs and I feel many steps forward in my journey to grow my creative capacity. I will continually explore existing designs showcased in ways such as the design museum in order to expand my knowledge and understanding of how creativity and innovation actually works.
